FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ken Stewart's Lodge - Good Restaurant, Bad Neighbor

Open Letter to Bath Township Trustees

April 22, 2007

Ken Stewart’s Lodge is a pretty good restaurant…but is proving to be a bad neighbor.  He acts like a neighbor with a constantly barking dog that annoys the neighborhood, disturbing peace, day or night and is a real nuisance.  The real issue here is that Ken’s dog in Bath is the size of Godzilla!

The Lodge must not be making enough money.  Ken wants to put a Grand Slam Cell Tower right in the middle of the Bath Historic District and State of Ohio Scenic Byway .  The reason given is that his customers can’t get a good signal in the lodge.  Not that anyone is against cell phone coverage, but we thought they were there to eat?   Wonder why Ken doesn’t just put up a small, unobtrusive in-building repeater?  I guess he is interested in making more (read: greed) money by getting into the Cell Tower business and to heck with we residents of Bath .

The monstrosity that he is going to construct is immense and will be seen from all parts nearby.  Lookout Verizon, T-Mobile is going to screw up a beautiful neighborhood just because someone in the Columbus Statehouse gave them a law to do so in spite of Local Governments.  T-Mobile was given the opportunity to plant their monstrosity in the First Energy right of way along I-77 up on those already there tall towers….but somehow this gets back to Ken wanting to get into the Cell Tower Business in Bath.

Well, it is time to vote with our dollars.  We’re telling everyone we meet to stop going to the lodge and take their business to Hyde Park Grill or Fleming’s in Montrose.  Better yet, the Diamond Grill in downtown Akron for a real steak.

If Ken wishes to muck up a really great Historic District and State of Ohio Sponsored Scenic Route…then let’s boycott the reason we let him in the neighborhood in the first place, his restaurant.  I’ve already cancelled two business meetings there this past week and looking forward to moving business to the Clear View and other great establishments!

Best regards,

Mr. Stewart, Please Change Your Mind!

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

Bath Green

Thanks so much for fighting this fight.  We moved to Bath 2 and a half years ago and are in full support of keeping Bath "Cell Tower Free".  We are boycotting Ken Stewarts and would like to see him change his mind.

It is a sad thing that somebody who has been blessed so well by this community would make such a poor choice.  The entire community is opposed to this.

I would hope that Ken would be a better neighbor and think very long and hard about going through with such a community opposed structure.

Completely hoping for a "Tower Free" Bath.

Mr. Stewart, Please change your mind!

Joining Boycott

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

April 22, 2007

Dear Bath Green,

Right on!!  Ken has shown once again how mercenary he is at the complete disregard of the community.

We will join the boycott of the Lodge (and his Grille) and do whatever else we can to assist in the effort to stop the construction of the cell tower.  Keep us informed.

We understand Jeff Andrew has organized a petition drive.  Please let us know where and when we can sign it.

Best regards,

Joining Boycott - No More Celebrating with Ken

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

I choose to celebrate many key moments in my life at Ken Stewart’s, 50th Birthday both mine and my husband, Shower, girls’ night out, and many business dinners.  I was proud of the fine dining and wonderful enhancements that were made to the appearance of Bath .  I was a show case to our community.  It is extremely disappointing that Ken does not share in the wonderful unique things in or rural Bath .

I have cancelled my reservations to entertain business dinners at his establishment.  He no longer is something I want to show off to the many guests that visit our company.

T-Mobile is Wrong! - Schools Should Get Revenue

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

I am outraged that T-Mobile did not try to put this on school property so the community and school could benefit from the income.  Poor decision for T-Mobile.  I will never use their service.  I have many friends in the telecommunication industry, progress and harmony with nature should be always be our quest.

Support Keep Bath green.

Cell Tower Destroys Horizon Views!

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

My wife and I, Bath residents, enjoy walking in the Bath Nature Park , with beauty all around unsullied by commercial views

But what do we have to look forward to seeing on the horizon? A very tall tower with a huge flag on top!

It’s out of place!

Bath is Beautiful - Commercialization is Wrong

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

We are very upset about this.  I grew up in Hudson and love so much their efforts to keep the town looking Historic.  I see so many towns going commercial and Bath is so beautiful; My husband and I are upset and will not be celebrating this year’s special occasions at The Lodge.

No Cell Phone Tower - Monitory Value For Schools

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

We who are residents (four) of Bath do not want this tower. I have not been too impressed with the quality of the food or service the two times that we've dined at the Lodge, maybe this is a way to cover the cost of lost business. We now dine at the Bistro at Hammond Corners. If this tower does bring in monitory value, then yes, it should go to the schools.

Cell Phone Tower - Ignores Health & Safety of Citizens

Open Letter to Bath Green and Ken Stewart

Dear Ken:

I hope that all is well with you and yours.

I have tried to reach you several times and am not sure if you have received my messages therefore I opted to just write to you regarding my concerns. I thought you would want to know what is circling about in the community regarding the installation of a cell tower on your property behind The Lodge. I am certain these rumors can’t possibly be true as you are known in the community as an honorable, trustworthy citizen with what I thought were higher standards than what is currently being talked about.

So that you know, it is being said that you have agreed to the installation of a cell tower on your property for the following reason………..your customers can’t get a connection on their cell phones when they are in your restaurant! Please tell me that this is simply not true! I can not believe that you would succumb to something such as that. It is not as though you are running an internet café or gambling casino there.

As you know, people move to Bath to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Placing an unsightly cell tower smack dab in the middle of our township hardly improves the rustic, country image.

On another note, the possible health risk is of concern as well. I can’t believe that you would put your employees at risk to such a possibility. As you are aware, my daughter has recently opened a business directly across the street from you and I am most concerned for her health as well. You too, are known for your dedication to health and fitness so again………..something here is just not making sense. One would hate to believe that you have “sold out” just to receive those hefty checks from the cell phone company. I refuse to believe that and hope that you prove these rumors wrong.

I have enclosed one of many articles regarding the various theories of the safety of these towers. If you are even remotely considering doing this, I would hope that you reconsider.

 Regards,

Long Time Bath Residents
