Historic District Info
Keeping Bath Green improves the Quality of Life for All.  It ensures the American Dream for Future Generations.

Enhance – increase in value or worth

Historic – belonging to the past

Rural Character – a rustic, bucolic & distinctive mark

These words describe some of the wonderful attributes of our cherished township and the focus of the Bath Township Historic District Committee.

The concept of a Bath Township Historic District was first introduced in the 1997 Comprehensive Plan as a result of community wide surveys and town meetings.  The desire to maintain the rural streetscape and protect the geographical integrity of Bath Township was and still is a priority.

The Land Use Concept Plan outlined general concerns about future development issues relating to the Cleveland-Massillon Corridor. The Comprehensive Plan went further and specifically proposed the creation of three Historic Districts within this Corridor to include:

Hammonds Corner Area

Four Corners by Old Town Hall

Ghent Village

With this charter in mind, the Historic District Committee has revisited the concept of historic designations and identified potential areas of historic significance. With the assistance of outside consultants, the committee has been conducting research and assembling the documentation for application to the National Register of Historic Places.

The initial goal is to register as many properties as feasible along the Cleveland- Massillon Corridor by creating a Multiple Property Document, the committee wanted to provide individual homeowners outside of these boundaries with the opportunity to also apply for certification. To this end, a community-wide workshop will be presented by the Ohio Historic Preservation Office to disseminate information and answer questions regarding the National Registry process.

This is good for our community, our homes and the place we raise our families.

Please plan to attend!
